Governing topic summary

Governing topics are things when parties wish to put action when they are allowed. The important topics to me are Education and Health.

Education is about how the government should spend money on schools.
Health is about keeping people safe and healthy and providing more money and stop getting sick to help during the current pandemic.

If I voted and choose a governing topic, I would pick education and health. The reason why I pick education is because I am still at school and still learning new things. The reason why I pick health is because I need to keep myself healthy under our current situation.

Making connections

Making connections is when you use a text for yourself, text and the world.

Text-to-self connections are connections that a reader makes between a piece of reading material. Text to self is what links to what you do. For example:In the story the mouse scared the fox when he lied to him. My connection is telling my brother that the boogie man was real to scare him.

Text to Text is a text thats linked in a book or a movie. For example: In the story the mouse stood up to the owl. my connecting is In the story jack and the beanstalk was brave enough to stand up to the giant.

Text to world is linking ideas in the world. For example: In the story the gruffalo the mother squirrel told a story to her children. my connection is Is that mothers tells story to their children so they can go to sleep.

LI-To identify and describe connections.

Fact and opinion | Character train

This week for reading we did fact and opinion and character trait.

For fact and opinion, we found a fact for each animal in the gruffalo story and made an opinion to what we thought about the animals.

Then for fact and opinion I was inferring about the character and the adjective and thing about them.

I enjoyed learning about the different characters and how they acted.

Setting description

A setting is the environment in a story. It can include what it smells, sounds, feels, and looks like

When describing what a pace looks like, it needs to include adjectives such as dirty, Clean, Fresh etc.

When describing what a place sounds like, it also needs to include adjectives like quiet, loud, and etc.

To describe what a place smells like it needs to include adjectives as rotten, clean, and etc.

To describe what a place feels like it needs to include adjective as rough, bumpy, uneven, etc.

This strategy can help get a picture inside the readers head as they can connect with the four senses.

Risk and Hazard

I learnt how to identify the levels of risk. We also learnt about assess likelihood.

First, we learnt about the five levels of risks. They are: low, likely, possible, elevated and extreme.

After that, we rated 15 scenarios by the levels of danger. Then we wrote down the consequences that can occur by the scenarios.

Lastly, we wrote down our own scenarios and rated the potential risk level for other people to try.

This activity was educational, and it taught me about the different hazards and risks that can occur in different areas

7 and 9 times tables

Multiplication is an easier way to add the same number many times. For example: 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 is counting 7 seven times so 7 x 7 = 49.

These slides shows the 9 times table and 7 times table.

Character Description

A character description tries to create an image by a character's appearance, personality and experience.

When describing the appearance it needs to inc operate the face, hair, clothes, body and useful words/phrases.When describing the personality it need to inc operate what kind of person is the character, what do the character say, how does the character behave and what makes the character interesting or different. When describing the experience it needs to inc operate where do the character live, who are the character's friends or family, do the character have any hobbies, talents, and more, do the character have any achievements or secret.

A character description uses both figurative and literal language.

Figurative language is unlocking the hidden messages that are in a sentence.
Literal language is a direct point and no hidden messages to unlock.

The purpose of this activity is write a character description so that people can describe all the areas of a character.

LI: to create a character description

Visualising

Visualising a reading strategy that helps create a story by drawing of your reading.

The gruffalo uses this strategy retelling the story on each page. The mouse makes up an animal called the gruffalo to three animals in each page. The mouse telling the animals that what the gruffalo looks like would give people an idea to visualise.

The nogard activity also uses this strategy. The nogard is visualising to describe what a nogard is. So in the end would make people find out what it looks like.

Visualisation is a helpful strategy to use in reading because it can help people visualise a story and also helps people get to know a book.

LI: to visualise the main parts of a story

Risk and hazard

We investigated the hazards and risks in different places.

To do this, we played Octopus and Four Corners. While we played these games, we identified if there were any dangers or accidents happening.

After that, we identified the differences between hazards and risks. Hazards are the causes of harm to people and the environment. Risks are the outcomes of causing harm to people or the environment.

Next, we listed four hazards that could happen in our homes, schools, community and sports. Lastly, we made posters that showed the risks of the different hazards.

This activity was educational, and it taught me about the different hazards and risks that can occur in different areas.

Multiplication word problem quiz

For maths, I learned about how to write multiplication word problems.

First we made story quizzes for people to solve, using the the group size and number of groups.
Next I coded my answers to see if my answers were correct or incorrect.
Last I wrote the final amount to check if I was correct.

I.L. to identify and solve multiplication word problems.
