Insect art

Our challenge today was to go around our school and find some flowers, twigs and some leafs. Then we used our imagination to create a image of an insect with the materials we gathered and created a insect / bug. In my case I created a Dragon fly.

I enjoyed this activity because it taught me how to make something out of nature

What are you doing today

Today for the third task I have done a Maori task.

First I watched a video that would help me understand what to do.

Next I created a Maori sentence of "What are you doing today?" and more like this

I found listening to the Maori audio a bit hard because it had words that sounded like word i could not understand

This week for the summer learning journey I created a comment on  someones blog post.

The persons blog post that I commented on was Jayden's blog post.

Fishing false teeth

This week for the a summer learning journey i watched a story called  F
ishing
false teeth.

The first thing I did was read an article about the story. Next I had to fill out a table explaining the four characters and who they are, what part of the story they play, and what was the outcome for them.

Next I watched a video explaining two men going fishing at the north sea and one of them loes there wife's teeth.

After I watched the video I had to create my on comic about the two men fishing. I had to write in the text bubbles and try and see what they are saying.

I had fun doing this activity because it taught me how to imagine what people are saying when they speak quietly.

Obstical illusions

This week for the summer learning journey I created and drawed obstical illusions.

First I had to to insert a photo and an image of the illusion I chose.

Next i had to explain what the illusion does

Presentation

This week for inquiry my group and I presented our emergency shelter speech.

First we started to prepare ourselves and ready to present our speech and while we were getting ready we pratised our lines and fixed the mistakes.

Then we presented our speech and presentation slide and watched other people do their own. We explained reasons why we chose our own emergency shelter shape and why the materials that were included were good for the natural disaster that we also chose. While me and my group were presenting we held our models.

Last we had a discussion about who was going to be hired and some groups that was going to be fired.

I think that my gorup work on is to work on eye contact and being more confident when saying there lines. My gorup didn't reach the criteria becuase we didn't include our materials test sheet

Kowhaiwhai pattern

This week for the summer learning journey we created a kowhwhai pattern poster using a google draw.

First we had to rotate the koru and make a copy of another one.

After we did that we had to make a background
colour that represents summer

Art colouring

This morning we tried one of this year’s Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to experiment with colours by mixing colours from the original palette with pop colours. This allowed us to recolour famous painting or images of landmarks around the world. I really enjoyed this task because we were able to experiment with these different colours, and we could do it digitally. The art I remade was created by Louis Mailou Jones, and the art is called Moon Masque. It is currently held in Smithsonian Art American Museum.

Original

Faulty reasoning

This week for reading we learned about faulty reasoning. Illogical /simplified/Assumption, Circular Reasoning, Over-generalization, Biased Argument and Contradiction.

Illogical /simplified/Assumption is Providing evidence that does not directly support the claim.

Circular Reasoning is supporting a claim with the same claim.

Over-generalization is making a global statement when there are likely exceptions.

Biased Argument is making a claim that is influenced by your own personal feelings or experience.

Contradiction is providing evidence that goes against the original argument.

Tuoch

This week I played a game of touch for kiwi sport.

First I started off with playing a passing drill. Passing drill is passing the ball in 4 groups. The first group passes to the next groups and keeps passing until the ball gets to the fourth group.  Then fourth person passes the ball to the people in front of them.

Last I played a game of touch and the skills that my team and I used was two and three man settle.

I enjoyed playing touch because the passing drill tough me tought me how to catch in the game of touch.

Fractions

Fractions are whole things divided into equal pieces.

A fraction of a set is a whole group divided equally into smaller groups. For example: A quarter of twelve is 3 (12 ÷ 4 = 3). twelve divided into quarters leaves 3 objects per group.

A fractions has two secese wich is numerator and denominator. The numerator is the above fraction that shows many pieces. The denominator is the below fraction.

QAR

This week for reading we did a QAR task on a book called: Change our school uniforms

First we answered the questions and put them into the right box. There were 4 boxes to put the answers into wich was right there, think and search, on my own and author and me.

Right there is that the answer can be found in the text.

Think and search is that the answer is in the text but you may have to look in different places.

On my own is that the answer is not in the text but you could even come up with an answer if you didn't read the text.

And author and me is that the answer is not in the text but you have to use background knowledge and what the author has told you to come up with the answer.

I found this task very hard because question 3 took me long to find the answer in a different place.

LI: to identify the main ideas in a text.
